Using photos of your child
and their friends, make enlargements on a color copier and hang in party
area.
Although prizes are fun,
keep in mind that younger children may easily become upset at not
winning a prize, so prizes for everyone may be better.
The birthday child will
feel more involved if they contribute to the planning... helping to
draft guest list, deciding on activities, etc…
Reading is a good
transitional activity for younger children. Theme related books are a
great way to start or end a party, or calm active guests.
At gift time, have children
sit with presents in their laps. Children can either come forward one at
a time or make a game of it. Play hot potato and rotate gifts. The gift
that lands in the birthday child's lap when the music stops is opened.
Children are especially excited at the beginning of the
party. Plan an activity or craft that arriving guests can easily
participate in.
