Winnie the Pooh Hunny Bee Guess
Fill a jar with yellow and black jelly beans, counting
them as you put them into the jar. Put a “Hunny” label on the front.
Give each child a turn to guess how many beans are in the jar. Write
down each person’s guess. At the end of the party, reveal the actual
number of jelly beans in the jar. The person who guesses right, or comes
closest, is the winner. He or she gets to take home the “Hunny Jar of
Jelly Bees!”
Happy Pooh-Day
After everyone has arrived, get them into the spirit by
singing a rousing rendition of “Happy Pooh-Day” (Happy Birthday). Save
the traditional version for later when you’re serving cake or cupcakes.
Pooh Play-Doh® Fun
This activity is wonderful for youngsters who are still
developing coordination skills. Purchase several containers of Play-Doh
and enough Winnie the Pooh cookie cutters so each guest has one. Cover
your play surface and place some Play-Doh and a cookie cutter in front
of each child. This activity is sure to keep their hands and
imaginations busy for a while, and later your guests can take their
cookie cutter home as a reminder of your wonderful party!
Follow Tigger’s Bounce
Play this follow-the-leader game just the way Pooh,
Tigger and the rest of the gang play it! If you have Winnie the Pooh
music, it makes a wonderful addition to this activity. Otherwise, put on
some dancing music or other happy tunes with a lively beat.
Choose a child to start as the leader. He or she begins
by bouncing up and down, leading the group around the yard, around the
room, or even in one spot. If you’re indoors, have the leader do things
like turn in circles and rub their head while bouncing!
Pin the Tail on the Donkey
This classic game will delight your guests, especially
when you give it a theme-related twist! Before the party, secure a
drawing or poster with Eeyore to the wall. Use construction paper to cut
out a tail for each guest; attach tape to the back.
To begin, tell the kids that Eeyore has lost his tail
and can’t find it. One at a time, blindfold each child and spin him or
her around three times. Then, give the child a tail and point him or her
in the direction of Eeyore. Whoever pins Eeyore’s tail in the right
spot, or closest to it, is the winner!
Piglet’s Make & Take Placemats
You may want to enlist the help of other parents for
this activity. You’ll need a Winnie the Pooh coloring book, crayons,
thin pieces of cardboard (for stiffening the placemats), and a roll of
clear Con-Tact paper. Remove the pages from the coloring book and cut
the cardboard to match the size of two coloring pages. (Cut the Con-Tact
paper a little larger). At the party, give each child two pages and let
them have fun. When they’re finished, lay the pictures on top of the
cardboard and cover them with the Con-Tact paper.
Storytime in Pooh’s Tree House
A wonderful way to calmly bring your party to an end is
with a story. Invite everyone to sit in a circle and listen to their
favorite Christopher Robin adventures. While you read the stories, your
guests can also color a Winnie the Pooh coloring book. Or if you prefer,
invite your guests to watch a Pooh video while waiting for parents to
arrive.
Treats
“Pooh-nut Butter and Hunny” Sandwiches
Note: If older children will not be attending the party,
and the following snacks seem too difficult for the birthday child to
eat, consider using a few to make a creative centerpiece at mealtime, or
serve them to the adults that participate. For the little ones, serve
soft, simple treats, like cupcakes, pudding or ice cream.
Use a gingerbread man cookie cutter to make ordinary
peanut butter and honey sandwiches into something special -- Winnie the
Pooh Sandwiches!
Pooh-Berry Juice
Make your favorite type of light-colored fruit juice or
Kool-Aid® and add a few drops of blue food coloring for fun. (You can
also purchase CranBlueberry juice as an easy substitute). To add a
little pizazz to your beverage, serve it over ice cubes with cherries
frozen inside. It’s best to let the ice cube trays set on the counter
for about 15 minutes before freezing, so the ice will be clear.
Piglets in a Blanket
Your guests will be pleased to share their meal with
Piglet! To make these treats, you’ll need a package of your favorite
brand of hot dogs, cheese, and refrigerator croissants. Slice the hot
dogs lengthwise and cut the cheese into strips. Unroll the croissants
and stuff them with the hot dogs and cheese strips. Then, roll the
croissants back up and bake them as directed, or until golden brown.
Cool slightly and serve warm!
Tigger-ific Party Mix
For an easy-to-grab snack, combine your favorite treats
in a large snack bowl and let the kids scoop out their own mix with a
small cup. Small snack items such as m&m® candies, licorice pieces,
granola, raisins, coconut, and dried fruits all work well. Your guests
will enjoy this tasty snack!
Jell-O Jigglers®
Purchase your child’s favorite flavors of Jell-O, and
follow the directions to make Jigglers. Use different cookie cutters to
make them more fun!
Piglet’s Pink Potato Salad
Make your favorite potato salad and add some catsup to
the dressing to make it turn pink. Using about 1/2 cup of catsup will
add just enough color to turn your potato salad as pink as Piglet!
Little Black Rain Clouds
Make rice crispy treats and shape them into little
clouds. Dip clouds into melted chocolate and set them on waxed paper to
cool. Let harden and enjoy!
Hunny Pot Punch
Your young guests will love this party punch almost as
much as they love Pooh! To prepare it, mix 2 quarts lemonade, 3 quarts
unsweetened pineapple juice, and 2/3 cup honey. Make special ice cubes
using frozen strawberries and fruit punch. Place a small strawberry in
each ice cube slot, fill with punch and freeze. Drop a few berry cubes
into each glass and serve. Enjoy!
