Procrastinators that we
are... it is sometimes a chore to get our RSVP in the mail. How many
times has an invitation, unknowingly, been mixed up in the daily
mail only to be neglected until the last minute?
We suggest a simple yet proven
method, that we learned through trial and error, to simplify this problem. This suggestion
should help you plan your event while being assured that each guest will most likely
return your RSVP in a timely manner.
Mail your invitations on a Wednesday! Why Wednesday you ask? If an invitation is mailed on
Wednesday it is more likely to arrive at its destination on Friday or Saturday, this is
the objective. Receiving the invitation on the weekend, instead of a weekday, will give
your guest time to read and return your RSVP more promptly.
Weekends, typically, are less hectic
and people have a little more leisure time than during a busy work week. When friends
receive the invitation on a busy weekday it may likely get tossed into a pile of "get
around to it" mail or lost altogether. However, when the invitation arrives on Friday
or Saturday, you will most likely get a timely response. This is due to timing...your friends will have
more time on the "weekend" to plan for your event.
Your guests will have just a
little more time to deal with their social calendar, coordinate dates, travel, babysitters
and other incidental details. It becomes a coordinated effort on your part that your
guests will surely appreciate.

Respond Folders and Cards...
Respond cards are used to help determine how many
guests plan to attend your wedding. An accurate count is vital
for preparing enough food, seating and other accommodations so
ordering respond cards can actually save you money. Response
cards should be enclosed with your invitation and returned by
guests by the date indicated on the card (usually two weeks
before the wedding.) Today, many cards are printed to allow
guests to select an entree as well as indicate if they will be
attending your celebration.
When you purchase your response cards, free response
envelopes will be included. They should be printed with the
address of whoever will be tallying the guest count. As a
convenience for your guests, be sure to include a stamp on
each envelope.
